2008 Daktronics-NAIA Volleyball Scholar-Athletes
Park senior Allison Block was named a 2008 Daktronics-NAIA Volleyball Scholar Athlete.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Park University’s Allison Block and Sydney Rennack were named 2008 Daktronics-NAIA Women’s Volleyball Scholar-Athlete list, which included 308 student-athletes from 135 NAIA member institutions.
Nominated by each institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify.
Both Park representatives to the 300-plus member squad were first-time recipients, and Block was the team’s only senior to receive the award.
Block, who came to Park from State Fair Community College, hails from Excelsior Springs, Mo., and played in all 32 matches for the Pirates, earning 32 starts and appearing in 120 sets with 277 kills. Block averaged a team-high 2.31 kills per set and was also the team’s second-leading defender at 3.00 digs per set, totaling 360 defensive stops on the year from the back line.
She finished the year with 18 service aces and 25 blocks, including seven solos and 18 block assists. For the year, Block scored 311 total points.
Rennack played in 11 sets through six matches, gathering seven digs from the back line with one attack. Rennack is an elementary education major from Kearny, Mo., and Kearny High School, where she finished atop her high school graduating class.

The Pirates ended the season with an overall record of 11-21, nearly missing the MCAC playoffs after finishing in a fourth-place tie with College of Saint Mary, who won the MCAC tie-breaker for the final spot in the tournament.
