Peggy Tuter
Head Coach
Peggy Tuter enters her seventh season as the head women’s volleyball coach at Park University.
She has compiled a 97-117 record at the helm of the Pirate volleyball program since 2000.
In each of the last two seasons, Tuter has guided the Pirates to 25-win seasons, posting a 25-13 mark in 2004 and a 25-14 record in 2005. Following the 2004 season, the conference coaches honored Tuter as the MCAC Coach of the Year. In 2005, the Pirates qualified for both the MCAC and Region IV postseason tournaments.
In her first season at Park, Tuter notched her 400th career win, which earned recognition by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Tuter came to Park after coaching at the junior college level for Longview Community College in Lee’s Summit, Mo., since 1985. In those 15 years, Tuter acquired a career record of 387-274. Tuter also served as Physical Education Department Coordinator and Instructor at Blue River College in Blue Springs, Mo., during that time.
Tuter also has worked as a committee and polling representative for NJCAA District 16. Her professional memberships include the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and the United States Volleyball Association (USA-VB).
She earned a bachelor’s degree from Central Missouri State University in 1977 and earned a master’s from CMSU in 1985. Peggy and her husband, Danny, have two children, Jennifer and Jeff.
Sugglis Chinchilla de Morante
Assistant Coach
Sugglis Chinchilla de Morante is in her third season as an assistant coach for the Pirate women’s volleyball squad after wrapping up a successful collegiate volleyball career in 2004.
Chinchilla is also an adjunct faculty member at Park, serving as a Spanish instructor after working for the past three years in similar capacities within the university. She also brings club coaching experience to the Pirates, having served as head coach for the Kansas City North Highlands Volleyball Club from 2003 to 2004.
A decorated player on the floor, Chinchilla’s honors include a pair of All-MCAC and All-Region IV selections at Park as well as being named a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete in 2004.
Prior to coming to the Pirates, Chinchilla played for one season with the national-champion Columbia College women’s volleyball team, earning one American Midwest Conference player of the week honor, an honor that she repeated in the MCAC two seasons later.
Chinchilla was also a member of the Venezuelan National Team from 1991 to 1999.
She resides in Parkville and is married to Juan Morante.
