BELLEVUE, Neb. – Highlighted by Justine Riner’s Freshman of the Year award, Park University landed 10 MCAC Softball All-Conference selections announced Thursday morning at the Conference breakfast on the campus of Bellevue University.
Justine Riner was awarded MCAC Freshman of the Year honors at the Conference breakfast on Thursday morning.
The Pirates had one honorable mention selection, as pitcher Brittany Johnson got the nod and four Pirates earned second team honors including first baseman Jennifer Cordell, second baseman Lisa Luettinger, third baseman Alicia Wedel and center fielder Kristen Hansen.
Five players were named to the first team including freshman Riner, catcher Emily Calder, short stop Ashley Scates, right fielder Abby Welker and designated player Jamie Garman.
Riner was selected the Freshman of the Year for her superb season, as she has posted an ERA of 1.45 and an 11-4 record. Riner has pitched 101.2 innings and struck out 80 batters.
Park will take on College of Saint Mary today in game two of the MCAC Tournament beginning at 2:00 p.m. If the Pirates win game two they will compete at 6:30 p.m. in game four against the winner of the Bellevue vs. Peru State game which begins this afternoon at 12:00 p.m.
