PARKVILLE, Mo. – The entire 15 member Park University women’s softball team and head coach Amy Reif took part in preparing a meal to help 60 less fortunate Kansas City Metro area citizens, last Wednesday, November 19.
The event was part of the homeless outreach program ‘Uplift’. The volunteer group has been feeding the homeless since 1990 and is an organization that survives by donations and commitment from others to feed and clothe the area’s less fortunate.
The 15 member team prepared a four course meal at coach Reif’s home and had it delivered to the Uplift Warehouse in Kansas City, Mo.
From there, the Uplift team delivered the home cooked meal to the homeless around the Kansas City area and more than 60 less fortunate citizens were fed for the night.
“This was a great cause for our athlete’s to be a part of, “Reif said. “I am so proud of the way our team came together and gave back to the community. I felt that this was important for us to do for those in the area that aren’t as fortunate as others.”
