PARKVILLE, Mo. – After 13 seasons at Park University, Joe C. Meriweather has resigned his duties as the head women’s basketball coach at the University.
Coach Meriweather is the all-time winningest coach in Park Women's Basketball history.
Meriweather collected 128 wins in his 13 seasons at Park, which gives him the most wins in the history of the Pirate women’s basketball program.
“I would first of all like to thank Park University for the opportunity to coach for 13 years at such a wonderful institution,” Meriweather said. "I would also like to thank Claude English and the athletic department for such a great opportunity and for embracing me like family. I am blessed to have coached so many great players in my time here at the University and I will always be part of the Park family.”
In 2007-08, Park finished 15-15 on the year. Meriweather led the squad to a 4-1 conference record and a second-place finish in the NAIA Independent Region Women’s Championship. Meriweather also helped guide Ashley Birch to a 2008 NAIA All- American Honorable Mention selection.
In 2005, Meriweather guided the Pirates to a 19-12 overall record as Park qualified for the NAIA Division I National Tournament for the first time in school history. For his efforts, he was named the 2005-06 NAIA Division I Independent Region Coach of the Year.
Meriweather was also named the 1998 AMC Coach of the Year and his 2003-04 squad posted a school record 22 wins and 3 losses.
