Park Drops Double OT Thriller to Mo Bap, 75-74

BOX SCORE

Hilary Walker had a career high 26 points against the Spartans on Thursday night.
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Despite scoring the most points in a game in almost two years, the Park University women’s basketball team dropped a heartbreaking AMC duel to Missouri Baptist, 75-74, in double overtime on Thursday evening.

The 74 points by the Pirates was the most by a Park women’s basketball team since March 8, 2008 when Park defeated Voorhees, 70-44.

Park falls to 3-18 and 2-8 in the AMC, while Missouri Baptist improves to 14-8 overall and 5-4 in AMC play. MBU has now swept the two game series between these two squads, defeating Park, 86-57, at the Breckon Sports Center back on Jan. 26.

Hilary Walker had a phenomenal game for the Pirates, scoring a career high 26 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. The Kansas City, Mo. product was also 8-of-8 from the free throw line.

The Pirates shot 19-of-32 from the free-throw line on the night, while Missouri Baptist shot 17-of-34 from the charity stripe.

Missouri Baptist caused 33 Pirate turnovers and picked up 17 steals, but committed 26 of their own turnovers.

The game was close throughout with both teams trading basket after basket, Park went into halftime with a 38-37 lead but MBU knocked down some important buckets down the stretch and extended the game into overtime.

Both squads scored four points a piece in the first overtime but MBU was able to take advantage of one more possession than Park in the second overtime and took home the 75-74 win.

Park will only have one day off as they prepare for No. 10 ranked Columbia College this Saturday, February 6 at 2:00 p.m. inside the Breckon Sports Center.
