2009 – In just his first year with the Pirates, Phillip Heckmann came in and took command of the floor as Park’s starting setter…Heckmann played in all 31 matches for Park a year ago and led the team in games played with 116…Had 1,481 sets on the year, averaging 12.77 sets per game…Also led the squad in service aces with 65…Heckmann was also second on the team in digs with 158 and second on the squad in blocks with 52...Had seven service aces against Graceland on March 26, which marked a career high in a game for Heckmann.
PERSONAL – Philip Heckman was born Feb. 19 in Einsbaeren, Germany, and is the son of Frieder and Bernadette Heckmann…Has one sibling, Lukas, who plays water polo for FC Schuettorf in Germany…Also considered Lindenwood before deciding on Park for its international education and volleyball programs…Enjoys skiing, snowboarding, traveling and other sports in his time off the court…Attended high school at Burg-Gymnasium in Schuettorf, Germany.
