Olathe, Kan. (Olathe North HS) Career Statistics 2010 – Played in 18 of Park’s 19 games, staring in 17, helping anchor a defense that allowed opponents 22 goals on 75 on-goal attempts…Took two shots, placing one on-frame without a goal…Had an assist, in Park’s 14-0 win at Harris-Stowe State University…Played a part in all eight of the defense’s eight shutouts and helped Park finish the season on a 10-game unbeaten streak (8-0-2)…Defensive presence earned first-team all-conference accolades in the AMC…Shined in the classroom, as well, earning academic all-conference honors…2009 - Started in all 18 games for the Pirate defense, registering a pair of goals in games against Harris-Stowe State University on Oct. 3 and Oct. 19...Helped the Park defense compile 11 shut outs, allowing just 10 goals on the year...Took 12 shots and placed six on goal...PERSONAL – Melanie Brewer was born in Olathe, Kan., and is the daughter of Dave and Denise Brewer…Father is the Chief Operating Officer of the Culligan Corporation of Greater Kansas City…Mother is a clerk…Has five siblings, including oldest brother Josh, the 1997 Simone Award winner and former Olathe North quarterback…Other siblings are Joe, Ricky, Haleigh and John…High school coaches were Dave Glassman and Forest Miles at Olathe North, where she was named honorable mention All-Sunflower League as a junior in 2008…Started every game in four years at Olathe North and is also a captain for her club team, the Kansas City Legends…Off the field service includes National Honor Society, Eagle Leadership Cadre and Link Crew …Shares her high school alma mater with current San Diego Charger and former Kansas State running back Darren Sproles…Chose Park over Notre Dame de Namur, Adams State and Buena Vista for its campus, proximity to home, coaching staff and friends involved in the program…Plans to major in legal studies…Away from the field, enjoys reading and playing golf. |
