Jamal James is Park University's lead athletic trainer, bringing a wealth of corporate, high school, collegiate and professional athletics experience in sports medicine to his position with the Pirates.
A Park graduate and former Pirate basketball player, in the Claude English era, James has worked with school districts in Kansas City, Belton, Hickman Mills and Grand View, in Missouri, as well as Arena Football League franchises in South Georgia and Kansas City.
He was also sports medicine director for Professional Rehabilitative Service, worked in ergonomics development for General Motors, and is a former recipient of the Outstanding Trainer of the Year in the Arena Football League.
Most of James' sports medicine experience is in professional basketball, where he's worked with the Memphis Grizzlies and Washington Wizards in the NBA, Dakota Wizards and Albuquerque Thunderbirds in the NBA Developmental League, the NBA Asian Challenge, and the Harlem Globetrotters.
A Chicago native, James is an avid Chicago sports fan. Professionally, he enjoys interaction with student-athletes on a professional and personal level, seeing development and knowing he had a role in their maturation.
