The Park University Department of Athletics, in conjunction with the Park University Office of Military and Veteran Student Services, will host Military Appreciation Night at Julian Field on Friday, Oct. 26, when Park's soccer teams host Columbia College.
Both soccer teams will also celebrate senior night when the Park women host the Cougars at 5 p.m., followed by the men's contest between the two schools at 7 p.m. All those who have served our country in the military, active and veteran, and their families will receive free admission to the games by showing military ID.
"There's nothing we can do to fully truly thank those who preserve freedom and our way of life in this country," Park Director of Athletics Claude English said. "But we felt it was important to show what it means to us with a night like this. I am looking forward to this event and the opportunity to thank those who have given so much to this country."
A special national anthem ceremony is planned prior to the women's game at 5 p.m., and the first 50 military attendees will receive a military fan appreciation pack, courtesy of the Office of Military and Veteran Student Services and the Park Department of Athletics.
The game will also include a family fun zone with activities for kids, and all youth in their club or youth team uniforms will also be admitted free of charge. Between games, seniors from both the Park men's and women's soccer teams will be honored.
"This is a great opportunity for active duty service-members and veterans to bring family and friends to share in this salute to our Nation's greatest heroes," said Stephen Terry, Director of Park’s Military and Veteran Student Services.
