QUINCY, Ill. – Missouri Baptist and Limestone College both upset No. 5 ranked Park University on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Quincy University.
Jake Penolio had 13 kills against Limestone on Saturday.
Mo Bap swept the Pirates (30-26, 30-23, 35-33), while Limestone took down Park in five games, (30-24, 30-28, 33-35, 25-30, 15-8). The Pirates are now 16-8 on the year and went 1-3 this weekend.
In match number one against MBU, Zach Penolio led all Pirates in kills with 21, while teammate Erick Albuquerque had 10 and Luis Zepeda had eight in just one game.
Philip Heckmann had 20 assists in the first game and Felxi Horn had 25 assists in games two and three.
Albuquerque again led the team in digs with 10 and Oskar Soderlund had four blocks.
Against Limestone, Zepeda had 22 kills and posted a hitting percentage of .275. The Pirates collected a plethora of kills on the day from some of its top players.
Albuquerque had 14 kills and Fray Luis Fajardo Arteaga had 13 kills while fellow junior Jake Penolio had 13 as well.
Heckmann had four aces against the Saints and 51 assists in four games.
Park will next compete in the Clarke College Tournament in Dubuque, Iowa as they face Graceland University and Missouri Baptist on Friday, March 26 and Hannibal-LaGrange and Clarke on Saturday, March 27.
