DAVENPORT, Iowa – The Park University men’s volleyball team picked up two more wins Saturday afternoon in day two of the St. Ambrose University tournament.
Erick Albuquerque had 12 kills against Siena Heights on Saturday.
The Pirates took down St. Xavier University in three sets this afternoon, 30-21, 30-14, 30-20, and swept Siena Heights University, 30-15, 30-18, 30-27.
Park is now 15-5 on the year and went 3-1 over the weekend, defeating Moody Bible in three games on Friday afternoon and dropping a tough three game match to NCAA Division II foe Grand Canyon University.
Zach Penolio and Luis Zepeda had monster games for the Pirates in match number one Saturday, Penolio had a game high 18 kills and Zepeda posted a career high 17 kills.
Both were near perfect in their hitting percentage as well, Penolio hit .536 and Zepeda hit an astounding .714. As a team the Pirates posted a .518 hitting percentage.
Felix Horn had a game high 46 assists and sophomore Beau Barnthson had four service aces against St. Xavier.
The Pirates had 10 team blocks against the Cougars and junior team captain Jake Penolio had six blocks of his own.
In game two, Erick Albuquerque led the Pirates in kills with 12 and led the squad in digs with seven.
Park hit .313 as a team and Felix Horn again led the team in assists with 21. Philip Heckmann added 12 assists and two digs to the match.
Park will now take a long break before its next match, when they take on Hannibal-LaGrange March 19 at 4:00 p.m. in Hannibal, Mo.
