PARKVILLE, Mo – The Park University men’s volleyball team swept Missouri Baptist for the second time this season in quick fashion, 30-20, 30-28, 30-27, to improve its overall record to 10-4 and 7-1 in MAMVIC West play.
Erick Albuquerque posted eight kills against the Spartans on Saturday afternoon.
The Pirates also swept, Mo Bap on the road back on Feb. 20. The Spartans fell to 7-9 on the year and 3-4 in the conference.
Park controlled the game from the start dominating game one, 30-20. MBU stormed back and kept game two close throughout with big kills from Endierich Rahming and Jonathan Roldan.
Jake Penolio had another stellar game for the Pirates, the junior middle blocker had eight kills on the day and posted a hitting percentage of .375.
Fray Luis Fajardo Arteaga again led the way in kills for Park with his 17, he also had 13 kills against Hannibal-LaGrange on Friday.
Defensive specialist Kalani Rose led the way with 11 digs and Phillip Heckmann was the starting setter for the second straight match, collecting 37 assists.
The Pirates posted a .259 hitting percentage as a team, junior Erick Albuquerque matched Jake Penolio’s eight kills with eight of his own.
Park will now prepare to face Johnson and Wales University this Monday and Tuesday at the Breckon Sports Center. The Pirates will face JWU Monday at 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
