PARKVILLE, Mo. - No. 1 Park University nearly swept the NAIA's weekly men's volleyball honors in the seventh awarding of the 2008 season. Henry Uribe was named NAIA Men's Player of the Week, J.P. da Silva the Setter of the Week, and Nebojsa Janovic tied for the NAIA Men's Libero of the Week.
Uribe, a 6-foot-2 junior for La Guaira, Venezuela averaged 5.6 kills per game, hitting .482 in helping Park to a 3-0 week, extending the Pirates' current winning streak to 10 matches with wins over Graceland, Missouri Baptist and Lindenwood.
Earning his sixth setter of the week honor of the season, da Silva averaged 12.60 assists per game for the Pirates, also grabbing 0.70 blocks per game. A native of Minas Gerais, Brazil, da Silva also averaged 0.5 digs per game in the 3-0 week.
Janovic completed the Pirates' honor roll by averaging 1.88 digs per game and posting a passing efficiency of .967. He shared the award with Missouri Valley's Patrick Pinto.
Park is now 21-1 on the season and ranked No. 1 in the NAIA Men's Volleyball Coaches Poll. The Pirates return to the floor March 19, taking on MAMVIC West rival Missouri Valley. The Pirates close the regular season March 25 at home against Graceland.
