Pirates Land 27 Top-Five Finishers at Baker

BALDWIN
, KAN.—The Park University track and field team continued their dominance in the outdoor season, posting 27 top-five finishes. The women had seven athletes and two relay teams finish first, while the men had one individual first place finisher and continued their dominance in the 4x100-meter relay.

 

Freshman Danielle Wills led the Park women in short distance action, running her way to a first place finish in both the 100 and 200 meters. Wills took first in the 100 with a time of 12.96 and in the 200 clocked in at 27.11. Sasha Taylor wasn’t far behind Wills in both events, finishing second in the 100-meter run and third in the 200-meter run.

 

Keyon Harrison continued her dominance in the 400 and long jump, taking first in both events.

 

Romona Nicolls finished first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:23.18 and took first in the 1500 meters at 5:21.95. Alex Harkins secured a top-two finish with a time of 5:23.21 in the 1500-meter run.

 

The women took control in the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays, taking first in both events.

 

Tashauna Robinson also competed well in the jumps for Park. Robinson took third in the long jump and finished first in the triple jump with a mark of 36-00 ¾ (10.99m).

 

On the men’s side, Arries Scott ran well in short distance action. Scott ran his way to a first place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 22.80 and took second in the 100 meters.

 

Seniors Charles Parker and Aaron French also ran well in both events, with Parker taking fifth in the 100 meters and French finishing third in the 200 meters and sixth in the 100 meters.

 

In middle distance action, Lenes Chery and Luke Wolkers took third and fourth respectively in the 400-meter run and Chris Allred posted the top Park time in the 800 meters at 2:03.82, finishing fourth.

 

Freshman long distance runner Tyler Kranz took fifth in the 5000-meter run, clocking in at 16:52.42.

 

The Pirates took first place in the 4x100-meter relay for a second week in a row, clocking in at 43.56. The men also secured a first place victory in the 4x400.

 

In jumps, Edward Hinton took third in the long jump with a leap of 20-05 (6.22m) and second in the triple jump at 42-10 ¼.

 

Park University finished second overall on both the men’s (104 points) and women’s side (133 points).

 

The Pirates will compete in the Missouri Relays on Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29 in Columbia, Mo.
