On Biola’s gameplan…
“They did a good job, their game plan was to protect the paint and they did that. They made us shoot jumpers which we don’t like to do a whole lot. If we have been inconsistent on one thing it’s been shooting the basketball from the perimeter and it was a good game plan. My hats off to them, they have a great coach and they have a great program. They aren’t ranked that high for nothing. If you can’t knock shots down, they won’t give you many extra opportunities and that hurt us early in the game.”
On Biola’s big run in the first half…
“We shot way too many three’s and we did that a few times year and we paid for it all of those times. We attempted 31 three-point shots on the night, usually we attempt 15 or 16. With them being so big and strong, we tried to penetrate and be strong but with their size they did a great job stopping penetration.”
On the things the team did well against Biola…
“We got some good stops and at times attacked the glass. That’s how we got 23 wins this year by having good penetration.”
Biola Head Coach Dr. Dave Holmquist
On his team's second-round win...
“I thought we played really hard and I thought we came out ready to play. We followed our game plan well. We made some mistakes down the stretch but I think that’s to be expected when you get a lead like we had. I thought we beat a very good team. They are tough to play against because of all of the defenses they use. I thought we executed well.”
Senior Center Rocky Hampton
On his career-high 32 points...
“I felt like I was in a zone tonight, like everything I touched was going to go in. Every player has one of those games when it seems like they just can’t miss and I just happened to have one in the NAIA tournament.”
