Reco Anderson had six points last week against Columbia, helping Park retain its No. 24 ranking in the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Pirates are also No. 23 in the College Fanz NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Top 25.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Park University men’s basketball team held its spot for a third-straight week Monday afternoon, remaining No. 24 in the NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball Top 25 Coaches Poll, released by the NAIA National Office in downtown Kansas City.

Park (16-7, 8-1 American Midwest Conference) also appeared in the College Fanz Sports Network NAIA Division I Top 25 for the first time this season, climbing to No. 23 in the poll compiled by College Fanz men’s basketball columnist David Paul Estes.

The Pirates have won 16 of their last 19 games after an 0-4 start to the 2009-10 season, and during the 19-game stretch, Park has lost to a pair NCAA Division II programs and one nationally ranked NAIA opponent, No. 7 McKendree University, who currently holds the top spot in the American Midwest Conference at 8-0 in league play. The Bearcats are 19-5, overall.

Mountain State University holds the top spot in both polls, and in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll, the Cougars are followed by Oklahoma Baptist University, Concordia (Calif.) University, Louisiana State University-Shreveport and Biola University in the top five.

The College Fanz top five, following Mountain State, includes Oklahoma Baptist, Concordia, Biola and Southern Nazarene University.

McKendree is also No. 7 in the College Fanz Top 25. Another 2009-10 Park opponent, Central Methodist University, is No. 13 in the College Fanz Top 25, and the Runnin’ Eagles are No. 14 in the NAIA Coaches Top 25.

The seventh edition of the 2009-10 NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball Top 25 Coaches Poll was voted on by a panel of head coaches representing each of the NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball conferences and independents. The eighth regular season Top 25 poll will be announced on Feb. 15.

Park last played Saturday, defeating 2008-09 NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball runner-up Columbia College, 72-44, and the Pirates will return to action this Saturday, stepping out of conference play for the final time in 2009-10 to take on Central Bible College at 1 p.m.

Saturday’s game is a rematch of a November contest in Springfield, Mo., when the Pirates defeated CBC 86-48 in game one of the Evangel/CBC Classic.

Saturday’s game can be watched live, online, at www.park.edu/sportslive, with live statistics available at www.parkathletics.com/livestats.
