Reco Anderson 2010-11 – A key contributor to the Pirates’ AMC tournament championship, scoring 25 in the title game at McKendree, averaged 9.4 points per game in a season that started late due to injury…Did not play his first game of the year until Nov. 17, the team’s 80-56 win over Benedictine, scoring nine points…Had nine double-digit scoring games, including his career-high 25 against McKendree and 20 points in a win at William Woods, going 8-of-12 from the floor to beat the Owls…Was 9-of-16 in the win over McKendree in the title game, hitting three shots from outside the 3-point arc, and finished the year with 18 made 3-point baskets…Was a 74.5-percent free-throw shooter, knocking down 41 foul shots, and from the floor, ended the year 74-of-157, 47.1-percent, including 32.7-percent from outside the arc…Averaged 2.6 rebounds, grabbing a season-high five boards in five different games, including the season finale in the NAIA first round against Mountain State…Had 28 steals and 11 blocked shots while dishing out 32 assists on the year. 2009-10 – Scored 201 points in 32 games played, making four starts and averaging 6.3 points per contest…Had seven double-digit scoring outings, including 15 points at Hannibal-LaGrange on Jan. 23…Had back-to-back double-figure games against Williams Baptist and Harris-Stowe in the AMC tournament, and in the NAIA tournament, helped the Pirates beat Georgetown with seven points on March 17…Fell just shy of 600 minutes on the year, averaging 18.6, and shot 69.2-percent at the foul line while adding 66 made baskets from the floor…Finished the year 24-of-86 from above the arc and had 29 steals to go with 54 assists…Had five steals against Harris-Stowe in the AMC tournament and hit 5-of-6 free throws in the NAIA first round against Georgetown. 2008-09 – Played in 28 games with 20 starts, averaging 8.1 points per game while shooting 44.7-percent from the floor…Had 11 double-figure scoring games as a freshman, including an 18-point performance at home against Illinois-Springfield, followed by a 22-point night at Peru State…First double-digit outing came in a 33-point win over Doane where he posted 10 points in 29 minutes…Had his top rebounding game of the season against NCAA Division II Southwest Baptist, pulling down nine boards…Also finished the season with 27 steals and 48 assists…Distributed a season-high five assists in his first collegiate start against MidAmerica Nazarene…Played a career-high 38 minutes at College of the Ozarks, scoring 15 points…Final double-figure scoring game came in the 2009 NAIA Independent Tournament when he scored 13 points against Morris College…Was a 74-percent free-throw shooter, knocking down 52 foul shots on the season. PERSONAL - Altorique “Reco” Anderson was born in Sumter, S.C., and is the son of JoAnn and Leander Anderson...Chose Park University to play basketball and chose the Pirates over Columbus College and South Carolina State...Father was a three-year player in the men’s basketball program at Clemson...Brother (L.J.) played football at Central Florida...Attended Lee Central High School in Bishopville, S.C., where he helped the Stallions to state titles in 2006 and 2007 under head coach LaVern Knox...Was a high school classmate of current South Carolina forward Mike Holmes...High school is also the alma mater of LaTangela Atkinson, who played basketball at North Carolina and is currently a member of the WNBA’s Sacramento Monarchs...Enjoys playing basketball and video games as hobbies. |
