Mark Halsell 2010-11 – Scored seven points with five assists in 11 games, totaling 38 minutes and going 1-for-5 from the floor…Field goal came in a win at Missouri Baptist in January, and in November, against Haskell, hit a career-high three free-throws, helping the Pirates to a 19-point win…Had five rebounds on the year and registered one steal in February, at home against Missouri Baptist. 2009-10 – Played in 13 games, averaging just over a point and 4.8 minutes per game…Had four points against Harris-Stowe in the AMC semifinals, helping the Pirates advance to a championship-game appearance…Also had four points in January against William Woods…Scored in five games and recorded at least one rebound in four contests…Had two boards against Columbia…Ended the year a 60-percent shooter from the floor and 7-of-12 at the foul line…Had six assists and a steal. PERSONAL – Mark "Buddy" Halsell was born in Midwest City, Okla., and is the son of Mark and Vick Halsell, who both played basketball at Park University…Father is a Magellon Terminal Operator, mother a school teacher…Nickname is Buddy…Played high school basketball at St. Charles High School in St. Charles, Mo., or head coach Gary Wacker…Team advanced to the Missouri state semifinals in 2007…High school teammates included current University of Kentucky post player Josh Harrellson and current Park teammate Rudy Harper…Was a National Honor Society member, All-Academic team member and state competitor in track & field…Averaged eight points, three assists, a steal and three rebounds for the SCHS Pirates…Played AAU basketball for Team Excalibur in the St. Louis area…Began his collegiate basketball career at the University of Kentucky for head coach Billy Gillespie, appearing in six games for the Wildcats during the 2008-09 season…Cousin, Tray Allen, plays football at the University of Texas…Chose Park University because he liked the coaches, players and people…Also chose Park because of his parents’ affiliation with the school…Also recruited by Columbia College and William Woods University in the American Midwest Conference…Away from the court, enjoys YouTube, watching television and spending time with friends…Will major in computer science. |
