Hopkins, Fessenden Named Daktronics Scholar Athletes

KANSAS CITY
, Mo. – Rachel Fessenden and Sarah Hopkins were named to the 2007 Daktronics-NAIA Women’s Cross Country Scholar Athlete Team Monday by the NAIA National Headquarters in Kansas City.

For Hopkins, the award marked the second in her career with Park Athletics after being named an Academic All-American in women’s basketball during the 2004-05 season.

Hopkins had four top 10 finishes during the 2007 season, her first on the Pirate cross country squad.

Fessenden was named to the Academic All-America team for the first time in a Pirate uniform after earning five top 10 finishes in 2007 and helping the Pirates to both an MCAC and Region IV title.

Last week in Kenosha, Wisc., Park finished 21st in the NAIA National Championship meet at the Wayne E. Dannehl Cross Country Course on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
