Brian Renshaw
Head Coach

Brian Renshaw enters his 19th season as the head coach of the cross country and track & field programs at Park University. In that time, Renshaw has sustained Park’s reputation as a perennial contender in cross country and track and field since the early 1990s.

Renshaw has received dozens of accolades in his time at Park including MCAC Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year seven of the last eight seasons.

Renshaw was also named the MCAC Men’s Track and Field Coach of the Year for the 2006 season and named the MCAC Women’s Track and Field Coach of the year in 2006 and 2007.

Renshaw also led the Park Men’s and Women’s Track teams to an MCAC team title in 2006.  In the fall of 2008, Renshaw led the Park Women’s Cross Country team to its fourth straight appearance in the NAIA Cross Country National Championship race in Kenosha, Wisconsin and took home 25th place.

Along the way, the Pirates have broken more than 100 school records in Renshaw’s term as head coach.

Before coaching at Park, Renshaw coached at Tarkio College where he also directed a winning program. In four years at Tarkio, Renshaw won four consecutive conference titles. Renshaw has coached more than 100 All-Americans. Renshaw is a graduate of Baker University and lives in Platte City, Mo., with his wife Candi.

Steve Lucito

Assistant Coach

Steve Lucito
enters his fourth season as the Assistant Track and Field Coach at Park University, and brings with him over 36 years of experience in teaching and coaching. Nine of those years have been teaching in the public school system, while 26 years Lucito has spent coaching and teaching at the collegiate level and two years coaching internationally.

Lucito has been the head track and field and cross country coach at four different institutions including William Jewell College, Missouri Valley College, Cortland State University and Garden City Community College. On the High School level, Lucito has been the head coach at three  different schools including Truman High School in Independence, Mo., Van Horn High School in Kansas City, Mo., and Northeast High School in Kansas City, Mo.

One of the many highlights in Lucito’s coaching career was the opportunity to coach the Bahrain National Track and Field team that competed in the 1996 Atlanta Olympic games. Lucito currently teaches in the Independence School District at the Independence Academy.

Tim Byers

Assistant Coach

An accomplished athlete and coach, Tim Byers will begin his second stint as Assistant track and field/cross country coach at Park University in 2009. Byers previously held that position from 1998-99. Byers graduated from Park in 1997, with a B.A in Sports Medicine and has coached at numerous colleges along the way including NCAA D-II North Dakota State University.

From 2003-2005, Byers was the Assistant Track and Field coach at NDSU, helping lead the women’s indoor squad to a third-place finish in the NCAA D-I Championships. He also worked as the Head Track and Field coach at NCAA D-III Simpson College from 2001-2003.

Byers has also helped coach four Boston Marathon runners and a high school state champion Javelin thrower. He holds a USATF Level 1
coaching certificate and will help lead the track team along with the cross country squads in many capacities this season.
