LEXINGTON, Ky. – Two days before beginning the 2014 NAIA Men's Volleyball National Invitational Tournament, the third-ranked Park University men's volleyball program learned it had two players named to the AVCA/NAIA All-America team, including repeat honoree Rob Cordero and NAIA South Player of the Year Daniel Arteaga.

Cordero (Yaracuy, Venezuela) earned the same honor last season, and in 2014, he broke Park's career assists record, passing out 1,034 balls for kills as a senior to reach 4,222 entering Thursday's first pool play match against No. 1 Concordia-Irvine. Cordero is also one of the NAIA's best at the net this season, recording 98 blocks (253 career blocks).

"Rob was the engineer of our offense, and without him, we're not nearly the offensive threat we can be," said Park coach Mike Talamantes. "You don't get to 4,000 assists unless you're really, really good, and Rob proved that again this year."

One of Cordero's recipients joined him on the All-America team, Daniel Arteaga, who is one of the NAIA's top offensive threats, posting 403 kills (3.99 per set) with a .301 hitting percentage. He also has 161 digs and 77 blocks to contribute to Park's defense, and he was named NAIA South Player of the Year at the conclusion of the NAIA South Tournament last week.

"Daniel is a fun player to watch because of the way he explodes through the ball," Talamantes said. "He's got a knack for being in the right place at the right time, and he puts balls away that a lot of guys can't. The fact that he's in his first year with our program is really exciting, because he's not even close to his full potential."

Park will play two pool play matches, taking on Concordia Thursday at 12:30 p.m., followed by host Johnson & Wales Friday at 12:30. Live video and live stats for both pool play matches will be available at http://denver.jwuathletics.com/naia/home?SPSID=644758&SPID=98797&DB_OEM_ID=27900.
