PARKVILLE, Mo. – Park University's developmental soccer teams dropped a pair of games, Friday, against MCC-Maple Woods, as the women fell 3-1 on a pair of second-half goals and the men were shut out by the Monarchs, 3-0.

The Pirates and Monarchs were tied at intermission, as Maple Woods struck first, in the seventh minute, on Madison Massa's direct kick from atop the box, matched by Maria Carvalho, who finished Kerinne Murry's down-field ball to make it 1-1.
Maple Woods was too much in the second half, though, as Annie Burnham scored from inside the box in the 56th minute, and Masssa added another goal, cleaning up a rebound after a defensive stop for the Pirates to cushion the Monarch lead in a 3-1 win.
Park out-shot Maple Woods 19-10, including landing 10 shots on goal, but the Monarchs were efficient, scoring three times on five shots on goal.
MAPLE WOODS 3, PARK MEN'S RESERVES 0
The Park men were never able to get on the board, as Maple Woods took a 1-0 lead to intermission on a goal by Aaron Crane, assisted by Nau Thawng just 25 seconds in to the match.
The 49th and 86th minutes were also kind to the Monarchs, recording goals from Johnson Felix and Marco Castorena, who scored off of Crane's corner kick to put the game out of reach with just three minutes to play.
The developmental men's team is off for more than a week, playing its next match Oct. 13 at Rockhurst University against the Hawks' junior varsity, but fans can see the women's developmental team twice next week, beginning Monday against MCC-Blue River at 3:30 p.m. The team also plays Thursday at 5 p.m., against Summit SC.
