PARKVILLE, Mo. - For the second-straight outing, Park University men's soccer played 110 minutes and finished tied 1-1 with its opponent, this time against Hannibal-LaGrange on Saturday afternoon at Julian Field.

The Pirates (5-3-2, 2-2-2) drew a second-straight American Midwest Conference match this week after finishing 1-1 at Lindenwood-Belleville on Wednesday evening. The Pirates also took the lead in this most recent contest, only to see the lead taken away within 10 minutes of play.

A fine finish by Pedro De Souza (SR/Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) gave Park the lead at 25:48 of the first half. Jesse Jasso (JR/Kansas City, Mo.) weaved through the Trojans' defense before tipping the ball to his right and into the path of De Souza. For the second-straight game, De Souza gave Park a first half lead with a clean strike from 23 yards out that beat Joaquin Hansen into the right corner.

The lead would not survive the opening half hour, however, as Hannibal-LaGrange took advantage of a rebounded shot that was not properly cleared. Kirchner Krishna chased a long pass into the Park area and fired from a tight angle to force a save from Thalu Masindi (JR/London, England). The shot found its way just outside the Park penalty area, where Fernan Centeno fired a shot through traffic from 20 yards and into the left corner.

Both teams had scoring opportunities thwarted by the opposition, with Park having to clear a pair of attempts off its own goal line. Juan Carlos Salazar (JR/Bogota, Colombia) came to the rescue of Masindi in the first half, while Joao Moreira (FR/Niteroi, Brazil) raced to the line and clear a shot from Renato Barroso that would have given the Trojans the lead late in the second half.

Hansen finished the game with nine saves as the Pirates fired 20 shots in total and 11 on target. Moreira came closest to besting the Hannibal-LaGrange defense from distance in the 56th minute, but his effort from distance was pushed over the bar. Masindi and Peyton LaFerla (SO/Kansas City, Mo.) combined to make three saves in goal for the Pirates.

Park has a 10-day break before opening a three-match road swing on Wednesday, October 10 at Lyon with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

The Park men's soccer developmental team dropped a 3-0 decision to MCC-Maple Woods on Friday afternoon at Julian Field.

Park allowed a goal just 25 seconds into the match and was held scoreless for the first time since its season-opening loss to Kansas Christian.

The Pirates regained their composure and took the game into halftime with just a one-goal deficit, but Maple Woods doubled the advantage 3:38 into the second half and added a third with 4:14 to play.

Luis Torres (JR/Belton, Mo.) and Ian Carver (FR/Kansas City, Mo.) split time in goal for the Pirates, with Carver collecting three saves in the contest.

The developmental team will face Rockhurst for the second time this season with a return trip to the Hawks' campus on Friday, October 13. Kickoff time is still to be determined.
