PARKVILLE, Mo. Taylor Buckholz got the ball rolling for the Pirates when she scored in the 13th minute of the game against Hannibal-LaGrange University. Emma Chatterton assisted Buckholz's goal. The Pirates (7-3, 5-1 AMC) beat the Trojans (3-8, 1-4 AMC) 12-0 in American Midwest Conference play. This game marked the Pirates sixth shutout of the season.


"A good rebound win," said head coach Ken Hefner. "A chance for us to regroup after our loss earlier in the week. Also gave us a chance to get some people rest and others some game time."


Three minutes after Buckholz's goal, Isabel Sullivan scored for Park due to a loose ball in the box. In the 28th minute, Maddy Russell scored off the rebound from the crossbar. A minute later, Chatterton found the back of the net for the Pirates. Four minutes later, Maria Carvalho crossed the right hand of the box to find Chatterton to put the ball in the lower right corner. The Pirates led the Trojans 5-0 heading into halftime.


Russell started the second half off on the right foot, scoring her second goal of the game in the 50th minute. In a span of 1:45 Sullivan scored two goals and Chatterton scored one goal. Niamh O'Dea assisted one of Sullivan's goals in the 1:45-time span. After the three goals scored the Pirates, Park led Hannibal-LaGrange 9-0. In the 68th minute, Sullivan was able to kick the ball low under the Trojans' Madi Allen to score her fourth goal of the game. Chatterton assisted Sullivan's goal. Two minutes later, Chatterton scored her fourth goal of the game and Sullivan assisted her goal. Taylor Fletcher scored her first goal of the season in the 72nd minute of the game.


Amy Roskell got her first shutout of the season and her first win in the net for the Pirates' defense. Roskell made one save in the game for Park. Allen was in the net for the Trojans' defense getting the loss. Allen made a total of 15 saves in the game for the Trojans' defense.


"The break in our schedule comes at a good time for us," said Hefner. "A chance to get some players back as well."


The Pirates will take the next week off before heading to Batesville, Arkansas, on Tuesday, October 10, to take on Lyon College in an AMC game. There will be live stats and live video available at The start time is set for 1 p.m.
