Lamoni, Iowa – The Park University women's soccer team took on Graceland University in a non-conference match in Lamoni, Iowa. The Pirates (0-2) fell to the Yellow Jackets (3-0-1) 6-2.


"I am really disappointed in our performance," said head coach Ken Hefner. "We did not compete today. We have to be ready every second of the game and we cannot afford to take time off. We have to have a precise rhythm of play to be successful."


The Yellow Jackets' Megan Kimrey scored the first goal of the game in the 17th minute. Kimberley Louiza Ramirez assisted Kimreys' goal. 10 minutes later, Graceland's' Suzune Sato scored the next goal. The Yellow Jackets led the Pirates 2-0. In the 32nd minute, the Yellow Jackets' Kimrey headed the ball into the net for a goal. The Yellow Jackets' Vicki Slobodyanik assisted Kimrey goal. Sato scored the last goal of the half in the 44th minute. Bethany Koutsouridis assisted Sato's goal. Heading into halftime the Yellow Jackets led the Pirates 4-0.


Within 25 seconds into the second half, the Yellow Jackets' Kimrey found Hannah Hiner for a goal. Graceland led Park 5-0, after Hiner's goal. In the 55th minute, Isabel Sullivan scored the Pirates' first goal of the game. Minutes later the Yellow Jackets' Sato scored their final goal of the game. Sullivan scored the final goal of the game. After Sullivan's goal, the Pirates trailed the Yellow Jackets 6-2.


Amy Roskell and Mercedes Daniels both played in the net for the Pirates' defense. Roskell played a total of 35 minutes, allowing three goals and had three saves. Daniels played the last 54 minutes of the game, allowed three goals and made one save. Roskell got the loss in the net for the Pirates. Manaia Siania Unutoa was in the net for the Yellow Jackets. Siania Unutoa allowed two goals, made seven saves and got the win in the net.


"Wednesday will be a good litmus test for us," said Hefner. "How we rebound from this and how much are we improving each game."


The Pirates will be back in action at Julian Field on Wednesday, September 6, at 5:30 p.m. Park will host Friends University in a non-conference game. There will be live stats and live video available at
