HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Park University softball team had four members who were listed to the 2017 American Midwest Conference Softball All-Conference team. Mallory Land and Katie Carr were named to the first team All-Conference, while their teammates, Brooke Kunkel and Justice Scales, were named to the second team All-Conference.
Land has been a key factor for the Pirates this season with hitting and holding down the third baseline. She is ranked fifth in NAIA Softball with 0.46 doubles per game. She is up to 64 hits, 45 RBI's and a batting average of .496 for Park's offense. Her fielding average this season is .974, with 35 putouts and 77 assists on defense.
Carr has helped hold down the first baseline for the Pirates' defense this season. She has had 38 hits, 22 RBI's and a batting average of .297. Carr has had 315 putouts, 10 assists and a fielding average of .994 for Park's defense.
Kunkel has been a standout at shortstop this season for the Pirates. She has had 41 hits and 21 RBI's so far this season, making her batting average .328. She has had 76 putouts and 76 assists for Park's defense at shortstop. Kunkel's fielding average so far is .927.
Scales has been remarkable in the outfield for the Pirates this season. She has had 33 hits, 19 RBI's and a batting average of .327. Scales has had 37 putouts and five assists. She has a fielding average of .977 for Park's defense so far.
The Pirates will be back in action on Friday (May 5) in Henderson, Tennessee; taking on No. 24 Williams Baptist College in the elimination contest of the American Midwest Conference Championship. There will be live stats and live video available at www.parkathletics.tv.
