Park University head women's basketball coach, Kenneth Cooper, signed 5'10" guard Destinee Garcia for the 2017-18 season.
"Our coaching staff is very excited about Destinee signing her letter of intent to play basketball and continue her education at Park University next year," said head women's basketball coach Cary Nerelli of Allan Hancock College. "She has worked tremendously hard on her skills over the past two years and it is so rewarding to see her efforts come to fruition. The leadership she provided in her role as one of our team captains has been a major factor in the success of our program over the past two years – she will be missed!"
Garcia is transferring to Park from Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, California. She averaged 8.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game during her sophomore season.
"Destinee is one of those kids that are always around the ball. I remember the first time I watched her play, every offensive or defensive rebound she was right there in the mix of things," said Cooper. "That is an element of the game that we have been lacking and that she will bring to the table. I would like to welcome Destinee to the Park family and can't wait to get her in the gym."
