CONWAY, Ark. - Park University was limited to a hit each for Austin Giannola, Cole Doherty and Weston Jacobs, Saturday at Victory Field in Conway, Arkansas, as Central Baptist College bumped the Pirates to 10-16 in the American Midwest Conference, beating Park 4-0, a series sweep for the Mustangs that put CBC one game away from clinching the eighth and final position in next month's AMC postseason tournament.

Park (21-22) gave up a pair of runs in the second inning, as Josh Hibbard was hit by Derek Watkins, who took the loss, and Jalin Lawson reached, singling through the hole at short. Both runners moved in to scoring position on Monterio May's ground-out, and Santez Richardson did the rest with a ground-rule double, scoring both Hibbard and Lawson to make it 2-0.

Lawson doubled in the fifth to bring home Deonta Howard, and in the seventh, Ryan Guyton came home on the Mustangs' third run-scoring double of the day, this time from Austin Kuchinski to make it 4-0.

"It's a very disappointing way to end this series - the last two series really," said Park baseball coach Cary Lundy. "There's still a chance at the postseason, but we've left no room for error on our part or on the part of those that need to win to help us get in. It's a frustrating position to be in."

Lawson was 4-for-4 in the game, helping Caulin Cragle to a complete-game shutout win, fanning six and walking two.

The Pirates are on the road Tuesday, at Graceland University, before returning home Friday and Saturday for senior weekend against Hannibal-LaGrange University.
