ST. LOUIS, Mo.Victor Neves from the third-ranked Park University men's volleyball team was named to the 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Men's Volleyball Scholar-Athlete team, announced Tuesday (April 18).

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.

Neves has played in 71 sets and 22 matches for the Pirates. He has had 119 kills, 102 digs, 22 blocks, nine service aces and six assists for Park. Neves has a hitting percentage of .259 on the season.

The Pirates (23-4) open the 2017 NAIA Invitational Tournament on Thursday, April 20, against first-ranked Grand View University in St. Louis, Missouri, in pool play. The match is set to start at 7 p.m.
