SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – Daniel Arteaga led the Pirates' offense with 11 kills, while his teammate, Mario Lucas, had 10 kills and hit for .571 percent in the match. Milos Trivunic assisted 36 kills for the Pirates' offense in the 3-0 win over Dordt College. Third-ranked Park (19-2, 7-1 MC) beat Dordt (1-15, 0-7 MC) 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-11) in a Midwest Conference match. The Defenders' Ben Tiemersma led the offense with seven kills, while his teammate, Tyler Postma, assisted 14 kills. 

"The guys carried momentum from yesterday and played great from start to finish," said Park coach Mike Talamantes. "I'm happy to be able to take a few days off now and get the full team back and healthy for next week matches."

In set one, the Pirates went on a 10-0 run, to go up 10-1 over the Defenders. The Defenders' offense went on their own spurt; the Pirates' Muilo Pereira put an end to the spurt with a kill. Park led Dordt 12-8 after Pereira's kill. The Pirates' defense was able to hold the Defenders to only four more points in the set. Pereira got the set point for the Pirates to win the set 25-14. Park hit for .207 percent with 12 kills in the set.

In the beginning of set two, the Pirates and the Defenders were going back and forth, before the Pirates' Oscar Tuero got a kill, to go up 7-6 and win the long rally. Mario Lucas got the kill assisted by Trivunic, to put Park up 15-11 over Dordt. Roman Tkachuk got the set point for the Pirates, to take the set 25-14 over the Defenders. Park led Dordt 2-0 in the match. The Pirates hit for .481 percent, while the Defenders' hit for .182 percent.

In set three, the Pirates and the Defenders were all tied up 3-3, before Park's Arteaga got the kill to give the Pirates the go ahead point. The Pirates went on a 5-0 run, to extend the lead over the Defenders 10-4. The Defenders' Alex Durbin put an end to the Pirates' run, with a kill assisted by Postma. Pereira got the set point, with a service ace to win the set 25-11. Park hit for .778 percent, with having 14 kills and zero attacking errors in the set.

The Pirates will be back on the road as they head to Belleville, Illinois, on Tuesday, March 21 as they take on Lindenwood University-Belleville in a MC conference match. The start time is set for 7 p.m.
