ST. LOUIS – The American Midwest Conference has announced its 2016-17 Academic All-Conference award recipients, as well as the Men's and Women's Basketball Champions of Character Teams. In total, 188 student-athletes made the grade for Academic All-Conference honors, and 25 were recognized on the Champions of Character Teams.

The awards were announced in conjunction with awards presentations prior to the AMC Championship quarterfinals in which representatives from each participating team receiving certificates for the honors prior to the games. Each of the 13 AMC institutions were represented on the All-Academic lists, with a total of 116 women's basketball players making the grade, along with 72 men's basketball athletes.

To qualify as Academic All-Conference, a student-athlete must finish the season with his or her team, must be in the second term of attendance at the nominating institution, and must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0. The Champions of Character team is comprised of one athlete from each competing AMC team who is selected by his or her team to be the player who best represents the Five Core Values of the NAIA's Champions of Character Initiative – respect, integrity, responsibility, servant leadership, and sportsmanship.
