PARKVILLE, Mo. – The Park University women's basketball team hosted Harris-Stowe State University in an American Midwest Conference game. The Pirates (2-10, 2-7 AMC) fell to the Hornets (10-5, 5-3 AMC) 89-69.

The Hornets' Brionna Taylor put up the first basket 15 seconds into the first quarter. With 8:25 left in the quarter the Hornets led the Pirates 6-0. Kenya Lindo scored the first basket for the Pirates in the quarter. The Pirates trailed the Hornets 6-2 with 8:07 left in the quarter. At the end of the quarter, the Pirates trailed the Hornets 22-4.


Within the first 15 seconds of the second quarter, the Hornets Asia Green scored to go up 24-4 over the Pirates. Jenae Rowe went to the line 20 seconds into the quarter, she put the Pirates on the board making both free throws. Lindo cut the Hornets lead with a 3-pointer. The Hornets' led the Pirates 32-9 with 6:30 left in quarter. At the end of the quarter, the Hornets led the Pirates 43-17.


Khalilah Morrow made a free throw with 9:42 left in the third quarter, to lead the Pirates 44-17. Lindo made 3-pointer within 20 seconds of Morrow making a free throw cutting the Hornets led to 44-20. The Pirates went on seven-point run. Lindo made a 3-pointer, Brooklyn Campbell made 2-pointer and then Lindo finished it out with two free throws. With 5:49 left in the quarter, the Hornets led the Pirates 48-29. Brook Vaughan made a 3-pointer with 5:20 left in the quarter. With Vaughan's 3-pointer it cut the Hornets lead over the Pirates by 14 points. At the end of the quarter, the Pirates trailed the Hornets 64-48. The Pirates out scored the Hornets 31-21 in the quarter.


The Hornets' Angela Randall made a 2-pointer to start the fourth quarter. With 8:04 left in the game, Vaughan made a 3-pointer for the Pirates. The Pirates were down to the Hornets 70-52. After Vaughan's 3-pointer, Selena Dunn scored the next eight points for the Pirates. The Hornets' Green made a 2-pointer to go up 89-67 over the Pirates. With 20 seconds left in the game, Kiana Matthews finished out the scoring for both teams making a 2-pointer.


The Pirates will be back in action at Breckon Sports Center on Saturday, January 7, as they host ranked No. 24 Lynx from Lindenwood University-Belleville in an AMC conference game.
