Two Pirates' were named to the 2016 Daktronics-NAIA Men's Soccer Scholar-Athletes team.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Park University men's soccer members Rodolfo Lopes and Pedro De Souza were named to the 2016 Daktronics-NAIA Men's Soccer Scholar-Athletes team, announced Friday (December 2).
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
Lopes started in all 16 games that he appeared in for the Pirates midfield. Lopes had five assists this season. He took 22 shots and had 11 shots on goal.
De Souza was also a part of the Pirates midfield making 10 starts and appearing in 12 games. De Souza had the second most goals this season for the Pirates. He scored eight goals and took 42 shots with 20 of the shots on goal.
The Pirates finished their season in the quarterfinal round of the American Midwest Conference Men's Soccer Championship. The Pirates fell to Lyon College 2-0.
