PARKVILLE, Mo. – Emily Key scored her sixth hat trick of the season and Isabel Sullivan added a pair of assists, as Park University (13-3-1) beat Lindenwood University-Belleville (10-7-2) in the semifinal round of the 2016 American Midwest Conference Women's Soccer Championship, 5-1, Monday at Julian Field.
"Great win today," said Park coach Ken Hefner. "Lindenwood University-Belleville puts a lot of pressure on the ball all over the field but we were able to break their midfield pressure down and control the game. We had some great finishes again today. Defense played very composed and kept everything in front of them today."
The Pirates struck first when Lydia Parker made a pass from 15 yards out to find Key in the 17th minute, to go up 1-0 over the Lynx. Sullivan made a pass from 20 yards out into the box to find Key in the 33rd minute. The Pirates led the Lynx 2-0 heading into half time.
In the second half, the Lynx' Jasmine Smith shot from 20 yards out to put the Lynx on the scoreboard. The Lynx trailed the Pirates 2-1.
