HENDERSON, Tenn. –In the 62nd minute of the game, Emma Chatterton put the Pirates on the scoreboard. With Chatterton's goal the Pirates were up 1-0 over the Lions from Freed-Hardeman University. Park University women's soccer team headed to Henderson, Tennessee, to take on Freed-Hardeman University in an American Midwest Conference game for their last regular season game. The Pirates (11-3-1, 11-1 AMC) beat the Lions (4-9-3, 4-6-2 AMC) 2-1 in double overtime.

"I am very happy for my team," said Park coach Ken Hefner. "By reaching goals set at the beginning of the year and reaching them is the sign of a good team. We have had some pressure put on us but we have persevered. It was a tough game today. Freed-Hardeman played a great game knowing they still had a stake for a place in the tournament."

In the 70th minute, the Lions' Abigail Morales tied the game up 1-1. Three minutes later the Pirates' Francesca Wild put the ball in the back of the net. With Wilds' goal, the Pirates led the Lions 2-1 with 17 minutes in left in the game. The Lions answered back in the 79th minute, when Taylor Jenkins found Nina Carolissen to tie the game up 2-2. At the end of regulation time the game was tied 2-2.

After the first overtime, the game was still tied 2-2. In the 101st minute, Chatterton scored the game winning goal for the Pirates to win the game and to claim the AMC regular season title.

The Pirates' Amy Roskell picked up the win for the Pirates in the net. Roskell allowed two goals and made two saves in the net. The Lions' Cassandra Tymchen put in the effort in the net. Tymchen allowed three goals and made eight saves in the game.

"We played very well at times but when our midfield was connected we had great possession and attack," said Hefner. "A lot of players gave us a lift today, Francesca and Emma in particular. They had Emily Key and Isabel Sullivan marked up so tight we had to change a little. We look forward to the challenges of the conference tournament but will be glad we are at home for the games."
