PARKVILLE, Mo. – The Park University men's soccer team hosted Lindenwood University-Belleville in an American Midwest Conference game at Julian Field. The Pirates (5-5-2, 4-4 AMC) fell to the Lynx (6-6, 4-2 AMC) in double overtime 2-1.

"Tough to swallow as we played one of our better games this season," said Park coach Efrem Shimlis. "I have to give credit to the boys as they created very good chances and played well."

In the 35th minute of the game, the Lynx' Andres Garza Rodriguez found Rodolfo Salbego across the box to put the ball in the lower right corner. The Lynx led the Pirates 1-0 at the end of the first half.

In the 81st minute, the Pirates' Mario Erpel shot a dinger from outside the box to tie the game up 1-1. Erpel's goal forced the game to go into overtime. At the end of the first overtime, it was still tied 1-1. In the 103rd minute, Sebastian Reyes Tarrago took a free kick on the right side of the field to find Sebastian Durand to head in the ball.

Thalu Masindi played in the net for the Pirates making two saves in the game. The Lynx' Christian Espitia picked up the win, making 11 saves in the game for the Lynx.

"We just have to do a better job in finishing our opportunities," said Shimlis. "The team is coming along despite our record and hopefully peak at the right time for playoffs."

The Pirates will be back in action on Wednesday, October 19, as they travel to Fulton, Missouri, to take on William Woods University in an AMC game. There will be live stats and live video available at Pirate Sports Network at www.parkathletics.com. The start time is set for 7:00 p.m.
